With the aid of our ultrasound machine we can monitor your mare's cycle to predict ovulation and increase her conception potential. We also use ultrasonography to diagnose pregnancy as early as 14 days after breeding, diagnose and reduce dangerous twin pregnancies, and predict fetal age based on foal size.

The advent of Artificial Insemination has opened a whole new world to equine breeding. Stallions that were previously unavailable due to their location are now only as far away as a Federal Express delivery.

These advances allow the infusion of new quality genetic material into local breeding programs.

However, such advances come with some increase in expense. In order for AI to be successful, timing of the insemination of the mare is critical. What this means to you as the horse owner is that mares require repeated examinations during their heat cycle in order to successfully predict time of ovulation. The overall success rate is the same as with natural cover and may even be slightly higher in older or problem breeding mares.
